Physical Changes in Girls
As well as with boys, girls also experience physical changes while going through puberty. Girls will start to notice that there hips widen. This is because all a girls stomach fat moves down to protect the organs in their pelvis. This happens to make room and protect a future baby. Girls will also get a growth spurt, adding around 9cm to their total height a year. Girls will also start to get pubic hair, under their armpits and around their vaginas. The most plausible theory for this is that the hair grows to house tiny bacteria which release a smelly odour. This is to alert a nearby potential mate that they are sexually ready mother a baby.
Girls will also start to grow breasts although they will not grow at the same speed. A girl will almost always have one bigger and one smaller breast. Girls will also start a monthly menstrual cycle. A girls ovaries will release one egg (ovum, girls genes) down her fallopian tube to her uterus were it will either; meet a sperm (boys genes) and get fertilised. If this happens, then the egg will implant into the lining of the uterus and grow into a baby. If however, the egg is not fertilised, then the lining of the uterus will degrade slowly, washing away the unfertilised egg. This results in what we call a period, or, menstruation. This will happen around every 28 day and happens for around 2-7 days.
One of the earliest and most noticeable signs of puberty is pimples. Everyone gets them, some people more than others. Pimples are caused when the oils in your skin build up and push their way up through the skin, creating a pimple. Girls, if you are experiencing any of these changes, do not worry, they are all perfectly normal and will happen to all of you anywhere between the ages of 8 and 13. These are the first signs of becoming adult.
